in Spain

Northern Spain: Asturias

La Felguera / Langreo

The national Churches of Christ history records the establishment of a congregation in Langreo in 1969 by Jesús Ordóñez. Spain’s Ministry of Justice religious-entity registry lists Iglesia de Cristo en La Felguera, Asturias, with a registration date of 28 March 2018.

The registry corroborates a northern presence; it does not confirm present meeting times, attendance or worship practices. No independent congregation website was located during this research. The historical page is undated, so its minister and contact descriptions should be checked directly before visiting.

Other northern search results need care

The national history reports a church planted in La Coruña in 1971 whose activities later largely ceased. That historical account is insufficient to list a currently active congregation. A similarly named Iglesia de Cristo in Santander belongs to Iglesia Evangélica Española; its name alone does not identify it with the American Churches of Christ tradition.

The identity of the Avilés community

Avilés Church of Christ describes itself as Christians seeking to follow the Way of Jesus Christ and the teaching and practice of the first-century church, as recorded in the New Testament. Its identity is grounded in that New Testament example. Acts 9:2 refers to Jesus’ followers as people of “this way”. The other churches linked here are independent reference points for visitors and do not establish an affiliation with Avilés.

No existing Avilés Church of Christ congregation, meeting address, phone, service schedule or formal network membership was independently verified. The website therefore presents a new community project, uses explicit contact placeholders and avoids claims about leaders, attendance, buildings or history.

Regional photographs

Real photographs of Calle Galiana in Avilés, the nearby Salinas coast and historic San Nicolás de Bari establish a sense of place. The historic church is Roman Catholic heritage, clearly labeled as separate from the proposed congregation. See photo sources and reuse licenses.
